People seek therapy for many different reasons and occasionally the reasons may be confused or hidden. Talking in a dedicated space and time can bring a sense of relief as well as clarity .
The psychoanalytic approach that I offer is a way of communicating which can help you become more consciously aware of why you may feel a certain way, and how relationships and events from the past can affect you in the present. It is important to recognise the inner strengths and resources which people have which may have sustained them in times of difficulty and stress before they seek therapy. I believe that part of the function of the therapeutic alliance is to identify and build on these strengths.
I offer both focused, time limited work around a particular identified issue as well as longer term open ended psychotherapy.
I am an experienced psychotherapist working with a wide variety of issues. I have particular understanding of :
Depression, Anxiety, Bereavement, Domestic Violence, Loneliness and Isolation, Low Self Esteem, Stress, Sexual and Sexuality Issues, Eating Disorders, Childhood Sexual Abuse , Trauma and Attachment Issues, Post Natal Depression and Motherhood.
Although I work with both men and women from all backgrounds and with a variety of difficulties, the majority of my experience is with women who feel they have reached a point of crisis in their lives and are struggling to make sense of their experience.
